The District of Lakeland No. 521 is seeking qualified applicants to fill a permanent full-time position with Lakeland District Protective Services as a Peace Officer (Special Constable) for our community. This position is open to new and experienced applicants and has its headquarters in Christopher Lake.
The successful applicant must be able to fulfill the requirements and qualifications to receive an appointment as a Special Constable, pursuant to The Police Act, 1990 by the Minister of Corrections and Policing as part of their Community Safety Officer Program.
This permanent full-time position has an anticipated start date of May 2020. The successful candidate may be required to attend and successfully complete training prior to receiving their permanent position appointment.
Our candidate of choice must be able to work a variety of shift patterns that do include weekends, evenings, nights and holidays. You will be assigned on call duties that may require you to return to work after hours.

You will have demonstrated experience in the enforcement of regulations and enactments. You will be able to prioritize service delivery in response to calls for service that is timely and efficient. You will be required to complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision. Your superior work ethic, character, and time management skills will contribute to the success and safety of the community. Your keen analytical, interpersonal skills and compassion will allow you to easily transition into this exciting, diverse and challenging position. Ideally you will have related post-secondary education as well as experience in the administration of law.
In this position you will be supported in your role by other regulatory agencies and law enforcement personnel. The successful candidate will have clearly identified in their covering letter direct examples of where they have provided service in the enforcement, regulation and education of municipal, provincial or federal law and how they have gained the knowledge and skills required for this position.
