Bylaws

The District of Lakeland No. 521 has certain bylaws that are set to be followed in the community, including building and development, traffic and waste control.

Animal Control Bylaw
A bylaw encouraging safe, respectful and responsible animal ownership and to provide for penalties and for not abiding by the bylaw.

The ATV Bylaw
A bylaw to regulate the operation and licencing of all-terrain vehicles for the District of Lakeland and Great Blue Heron Provincial Park. Read our FAQ here.

Block Party, Special Events Policy
To facilitate activities of individuals, neighbourhoods within the municipality and outside organizations which are intended to enhance the quality of life for residents and ratepayers.

A bylaw to regulate and licence business.

Cannabis Business Licence Bylaw
To provide for regulations of the sale, processing and distributing of recreational cannabis with a set of standards for cannabis-related businesses.

Collection, Storage, and Disposal of Sewage Bylaw
A bylaw to control the collection, storage and disposal of sewage.

Dock Boat Lift and Vessel Bylaw
A bylaw for the control, regulation and use of marinas, docks, boat lifts, and vessels.

Environmental Stewardship Bylaw
A bylaw to implement better practices within a defined lake impact area to balance public safety, environmental stewardship, and public enjoyment of activities affecting the foreshore, shoreland, and lakes.

Fire Restriction Bylaw
A bylaw to provide for public safety in times of extreme fire hazard conditions and to restrict or eliminate the use of fire within the municipality in areas of fire danger, and to regulate open fires and fireworks.

General Penalty Bylaw
A bylaw to provide for the enforcement of the bylaws of the municipality pursuant to The Municipalities Act.

Golf Cart Bylaw
A bylaw to regulate the operation and licencing of golf carts within the District of Lakeland.

Noise Bylaw
A bylaw for the purpose of prevention, prohibiting, controlling of loud and excessive noise, or any noise which unreasonably disturbs, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of other persons.

Official Community Plan (OCP)
The purpose of this bylaw is to provide goals, objectives and policies to guide the management of the use of land and its future development within the limits of the municipality

Parking Bylaw
A Bylaw to regulate and control parking

Property Amenity and Standards Bylaw
To provide for the abatement of nuisances and the authority to deal with property amenities, standards, and conditions.

RM Traffic Bylaw
A bylaw to regulate the operation of vehicles and the use of the highways.

RV Bylaw
A bylaw to allow for and regulate recreational vehicles (campers) on residential lots.

Trailer Licensing Fee Bylaw
A bylaw to authorize service fees and to lawfully permit operations of trailer parks, campgrounds, RV & Mobile home parks while ensuring their proper land use.

Waste and Recyclable Management Bylaw
Effective August 2021. To protect the health and welfare of people and environment by regulating and monitoring the collection, handling and disposal of waste and recyclable material.

Zoning Bylaw
This Bylaw was formed to control the use and development of the land in the District and assist in implementing the Development Plan Bylaw.
