When disaster strikes, Rapid Damage Assessment is critical. Municipalities need trained personnel to assess structural and non-structural conditions for safety of the community and response agencies and to anticipate response and recovery phase needs.
The District of Lakeland is working with BC Housing to offer a 4-hour Rapid Damage Assessment course (RDA) and a Coordination of Rapid Damage Assessment course (CRDA) (2.5 hours) in the Art Hauser Centre, Prince Albert.
The Rapid Damage Assessment (RDA) AND Coordination of Rapid Damage Assessment courses will be offered:
- RDA Wednesday, November 20th 0830-1230 LIMITED SEATING STILL AVAILABLE
- CRDA Wednesday, November 20th 1330-1600 (pre-requisite is RDA) LIMITED SEATING STILL AVAILABLE
The course fee is $140.00 per person for the RDA course including a damage assessment field guide and $50 for the CRDA course including course material. See attached for course descriptions.
This course is appropriate for building inspectors, safety officials, community members interested in assisting with post-disaster inspections, responders who may be required to enter damaged buildings, emergency managers, engineers and architects, public works employees, facility/property managers.
Participants must have a general understanding of building construction.
This is an opportunity to build damage assessment capacity in our communities and province.
